Thanks to a nurse for taking our first family photo. Posted by Hello

Lucy Michelle Despain's first photo about 30 seconds after birth. (When she was born they rushed her to a crib to make sure she could breathe, I took this because Susan hadn't seen her yet.) Posted by Hello

We Are Ready!

Well, today's the big day! After measuring and planning, the doctor and we think it's best to have the baby. Her growth is kind of leveling off so she needs to be born to eat to grow more. Susan has been on "modified bed rest" since Friday (she's already bored of it) and tonight we'll go to the hospital at midnight to induce labor. We've got everything we need to get her home and thanks to lots o' generous folks we've got lots o' clothes to put on her and even some diapers to change. Today's plan is to rest up while I finish some laundry, dishes, cleaning etc. Then an early bedtime for some rest before we call the hospital to make sure they have enough room for us. Then it's off to parenthood! It's a good day for it. (16% of babies are born on Tuesdays, more than any other day of the week) Wish us luck!

Things are getting exciting

We're having a good time waiting for this baby. Only a few details need to be ironed out. We've been having multiple doctor visits every week for tests. Everything seems to be fine. Lucy seems to be a little small (about 4 1/2 lbs) but she's growing steadily and has turned her head in the right direction now! Enjoy the photos!

Here's Susan on Sunday afternoon. We found out last week that Lucy was breech, but she's been very mobile lately and has hopefully shifted position. Posted by Hello

I think you can see some progress in this one. Little Lucy was doing some serious gymnastics this week to the amazement of her mother. Posted by Hello

Belly Watch

We've decided to take a photo every Friday so interested parties can monitor Susan's growth. Enjoy the first installment of Belly Watch!

Cute Ultrasound pictures!

Had another ultrasound Tuesday. Our baby was very squirmy and kicking but soon settled down and we could actually see her sucking her thumb! The ultrasounder driving the machine said she'd never seen a baby sucking a thumb this young (24 weeks). There's also a photo of a crib donated to our cause by a friend of ours and fellow optometry student who has had enough of this beautiful white crib. Enjoy the photos.

While you're here, be sure to take the surveys on the sidebar and click the link to the photo page to see photodocumentation of our recent adventure to Cannon Beach.

Look at this! Our friend gave us a crib! What a generous guy! Shouldn't give his name without permission of course, so we'll call him Challancy. Thanks Challancy. Posted by Hello

This is a cute profile. Our baby is actually sucking her thumb! You can also look carefully and see closed eylids and open nostrils. (sucking her thumb or picking her nose?) Posted by Hello

Here's a lower leg (presumably attached to a thigh and a foot (both blurry)) Posted by Hello
